Alessandria, 3 December 2015
The Centre for ‘High Studies and Documentation’ focusing on the activities of the Blue Shield in Italy was formally recognised by the Cities of Moncalvo (Asti) and Rosignano Monferrato (Alessandria) – Italy.
Located within the area of the ‘Sacro Monte di Crea‘ (part of the World Heritage site Sacred Mountains of northern Italy) and the Vineyard landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato (in Piedmont) both embedded within the World Heritage list. Hard to think of a better context to host the activities of the Italian National Committee of the Blue Shield.
WATCH welcomes this further progress in the gradual development in Italy of a Blue Shield movement. Local Authorities are key stakeholders in the administration of cultural and natural heritage and, their support to the movement goes in the right direction towards the establishment of a proper protective policy and practice in line with the 1954 Hague Convention and its two additional protocols.
