WATCH announces the creation of restricted permanent thematic commissions to support its action towards the implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention.
In line with its mandate and to meet an increased demand it receives within the complex multifaceta themes concerned with the implementation of international laws and conventions (eg: 1954 Hague Convention for the protection of cultural property in times of armed conflicts and its two protocols) WATCH prepares to create specialised interactive thematic commissions. Integrated by volunteer international field experts from various disciplines the Commissions will address several very specific Juridical, Military, Technical / Scientific and, Logistics themes concerned with the protection of cultural heritage before, during and after armed conflicts. The Commissions are designed to also prepare to provide expert support in Risk Preparedness and Risk Management Plans as well as to provide multidisciplinary advisory when WATCH direct engagement is requested by High Contracting Authorities, State Parties and other international organisations.
