An introductory training on Risk Preparedness Planning for the protection of Movable and Immovable cultural heritage was implemented 21-22 October at the Ethnographic Museum in Gori (Georgia).
Implemented by WATCH Claudio Cimino and Prof. Adalberto Biasiotti, the training was tailored to address museums specialists from seven museums in the Mtskheta – Mtianeti region and focused on the implementation of risk identification, assessment, mitigation and response measures to protect Museums from the effects produced by human activities, natural events including the effects associated to climate changes. Specialists from seven Museums mostly located in the Mtskheta – Mtianeti region participated to the training. For the selected participants it was the first such experience and the introductory training aimed to set a precedent that could be gradually reproduced by the GNCBS covering a wider territory.
Organised by the Georgian National Committee of the Blue Shield in cooperation with WATCH, this activity was possible thanks to a grant from the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development (NL). The training received full support from the Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection.
